the Boat Owners Association of The United States, provides boaters with a variety of services and information. BoatUS offers its members boat insurance, lettering and graphics, marine supply coupons, MMSI registration, towing service, and much more.
Members of the boating association also become eligible for discounts at certain marinas, rental car services, motels, and boat shows. For example, the Old Port Cove Marina in North Palm Beach, Florida gives BoatUS members a ten percent discount on their marine fuel.
The boating association publishes three different magazines as well as a newsletter. They are included at no extra charge with certain types of membership or extra services. BoatUS members can also subscribe to “DIY Boat Owner” magazine at a discounted price.
Other services available include boat loans, dispute resolution assistance, long-term care insurance, a theft deterrent program, and banking (checking accounts) with no monthly fee. Similarly to top-tier auto and discount shopping clubs, the association provides members with a wide range of benefits.
BoatUS was established in 1966 and is headquartered in the city of Alexandria, Virginia. It currently has more than 500,000 members. The association continues to add new services and benefits, including a recently instituted discount on Sprint cell phone subscriptions.
The BoatUS Foundation helps to promote clean water and safe boating. It operates a program that lends life jackets to children at hundreds of docks and marinas throughout the United States. The foundation helps people set up local fishing line recycling programs as well.
