As part of the outdoor recreation curriculum at Eglin Air Force Base in Valparaiso, FL, Ben’s Lake Marina is one of two marinas located within the base itself. Situated on Florida’s Panhandle in Choctawhatchee Bay, Ben’s Lake Marina offers its patrons ramp access, electrical hook up, ethanol free fuel, wash and maintenance racks, and a ship’s store featuring bait & tackle along with a selection of convenience items. Ben’s Lake Marina also offers a variety of storage options: inside dry storage accommodating almost 200 vessels of up to 30 feet; outside dry rack storage accommodating 92 vessels of up to 30 feet; and wet slip storage for an additional 47 boats. Ben’s Lake Marina is located across from the Eglin Air Force Base Officers Club. Offering one of the biggest air force base outdoor recreation programs in the world, over 15,000 people participate each month through a variety of recreational opportunities including boating, camping, scuba diving and deep sea fishing. Local area attractions not to be missed include the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida and Air Force Armament Museum in Valparaiso, Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park in Niceville, Florida’s Gulfarium and Emerald Coast Science Center, both in nearby Fort Walton Beach.
