Mercury Marine currently manufactures three series of the Mercury outboard engine – Verado, OptiMax, and FourStrokes – ranging from 20-300 HP, all featuring the durability and reliability that a Mercury outboard engine can provide.
Mercury Outboard Engine
The Verado series of Mercury outboard engine offers two standard models: a four-cylinder 150-200 HP and a six-cylinder 225-300 Hp engine. The Verado is touted as the ‘world’s only supercharged production outboard engine’ featuring advanced technology offering up to 40% more fuel efficiency than competitor models.
Introduced in 2004, the Verado features an improved power train with forged pistons providing strength and durability. The eccentric-grooved main bearings in the crankshaft help to retain oil while reducing the flow to the crankcase. The intake cam contour provides improved engine air flow while the calibrated power control module helps to optimize the overall fuel economy.
The OptiMax features four different models of the Mercury outboard engine, from a 1.5 L 75-125 HP to a 3 L 200-225 HP, plus a Pro XS version 115-250 HP engine. Claimed to be the ‘best deal going,’ the OptiMax series offers top performance and the best fuel economy in its class.
The OptiMax Mercury outboard engine comes with a ‘three-year factory-backed non-declining warranty’ plus a three-year corrosion failure warranty, the only one of its kind offered in the boating industry. In 2002, the Mercury OptiMax outboard engine series set world speed records in all horsepower categories of Pro Stock bass boats. The Mercury Marine OptiMax outboard engine was ranked by J.D. Power and Associates as the ‘highest in customer satisfaction with two-stroke outboard engines’ in 2006.
The FourStrokes series of portable and mid-range engines features multiple models ranging from a 2.5 HP for small inflatables and canoes to a 115 HP suited for bay or flats boats. All FourStrokes Mercury outboard engines feature an inline design for quiet fuel efficient operations plus they won’t smoke.
Several of the FourStrokes engines also feature electronic fuel injection (EFI) which provides precise fuel measuring to the cylinders while monitoring temperature, atmospheric pressure, boat load, and position of the throttle. EFI helps to ensure a smooth start with trouble free performance. All Mercury FourStrokes outboard engines come with a 3-year limited corrosion warranty.
Mercury re-manufacturing provides a full line up of ‘Factory Certified Pre-Owned’ outboard engines that are both factory built and factory backed with a full one-year warranty. All re-manufacturing engines are inspected and tested to ensure compliance with original equipment maker standards.
