Boat Engine Repair Shops in Mississippi

Whether you’re heading from the Magnolia state to Oakatibee Lake or the Gulf of Mexico, it’s always a good idea to have a reference list of boat engine repair shops in Mississippi, just in case.  But, before looking for boat engine repair shops in Mississippi, here’s a few preventative measures to keep in mind.

Ensure that you always follow the engine maintenance timetable as outlined by your boat engine manufacturer, ensure usage of the correct oil mix, and change your engine oil prior to winter storage.  These tips may help to reduce the need of looking for a boat engine repair shop in Mississippi, or any other state.

But when breakdowns do happen unexpectedly, you may have to seek the services of a boat engine repair shop, no matter what prevention has taken place.  Before agreeing to any potential work being done, ask for a written estimate; this is both for your protection and understanding, as well as that of the boat engine repair shop.  Also, ask fellow boaters about the reputation and professionalism of the boat engine repair shop you’re considering.

When you become a Silver Member on Marinefuel.com, you can use Advanced Searching to filter the E-Marina™ database, and find facilities based on specific amenities, such as boat engine repairs in Mississippi (and the rest of the US & Caribbean).

Download Mercury Outboard Engine Manuals-Legal?

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Are you trying to learn how to download Mercury outboard engine manuals online?  Before doing so, you may want to consider the legalities and hazards involved in using files from unknown sources.  Although it’s simple enough to do, when you download Mercury outboard engine manuals online, or any other shared file, you could be inviting unwanted security risks onto your computer.

Download Mercury Outboard Engine Manuals Online

Download Mercury Outboard Engine Manuals Online

MarineFuel.com found two websites where you could download Mercury outboard engine manuals online.  Both involve the use of BitTorrent peer-to-peer file sharing.  A torrent is a smaller file ending with the suffix .torrent, and can be a file or set of files with a unique torrent file that allows it to download.  It is one of the most popular ways of downloading larger files such as movies or music and sometimes unpublished or out of print engine manuals.

Legal Mercury Engine Manual Options Online

Keep in mind that, legally, you cannot download any material that has been copyrighted, including a Marine Engine Manual.  If you need to identify an engine part, it’s as easy as going to the Mercury Parts Express website and viewing part diagrams online in order to confirm part numbers and/or quantities required.

Here’s what we found.  TorrentReactor.net has five Mercury outboard engine manuals online available for download (labeled as a full download; 2009; full version; free download; and a complete manual).  TorrentReactor.net states that if you choose to download Mercury outboard engine manuals online, “it can be dangerous and cause a copyright infringement notice, so you might be prosecuted.”  TorrentReactor.net goes on to say they “would recommend you to use a special program TorrentPrivacy to avoid that.  It allows you to be anonymous in BitTorrent networks.”

AliveTorrents.com is another website listing four Mercury outboard engine manuals online available for download (labeled as fast download; full download; working; and torrent).  Alive Torrents does not offer the same warning upfront, although the same legalities would apply.

Beware of false advertising that will lead you to websites unrelated to a search for ‘download Mercury outboard engine manuals online.’  On researching this article, MarineFuel.com was instantly redirected to gambling websites repeatedly and in one case, even a pornographic website.  Such websites can instantly fill your computer with unwanted pop-up ads, or worse yet, a computer virus.

Safest Way to Purchase Mercury Outboard Engine Manuals

Your best bet when you’re in need of a outboard engine manual is to purchase a paper copy from a reputable website such as TradeBit.com or MarinePartsMan.com.  A great resource website we found is called TheFind where a compiled list of Mercury Marine engine manuals available from various websites is displayed, including prices.  It’s a great way to quickly do comparison shopping.

A quick reference file of Mercury Marine outboard parts can be found online at Marine-Sales.  Remember to beware of the potential consequences involved when you consider the option to download Mercury outboard engine manuals online.  Your best bet is to skip the download and purchase a paper manual which can be easily stored on your boat for reference at a moment’s notice.

Marine Engine Manufacturers – Outboard

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Marine engine manufacturers come in several different categories.

A category that stands apart is outboard engines. Outside of Mercury Marine which has its fingers in all aspects of recreational marine propulsion, the outboard engine manufacturers are a different bunch of companies from those providing inboard engine options. Outboard boat engines have been around 100 years since Ole Evinrude created the first one in 1909. Unlike their inboard cousins, many outboard engines are two-stroke for ease of manufacture and high power to weight ratios. marine engine manufacturersSome manufacturers have switched to 4-stroke for cleaner emissions and jet drive instead of a propeller is also an option. Here is my listing of the current, popular, outboard engine manufacturers:

  1. Evinrude: Evinrude is a subsidiary of Bombardier Recreational Products, home of Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo and other motorized recreational products. The company’s E-Tec lineup of 2-stroke engines include inline models from 25 hp. to 90 hp., V-4 models at 115 and 130 hp., V-6 engines from 150 to 300 hp. and High Output models ranging from 115 to 250 hp.
  2. Honda Marine: Honda introduced the 4-stroke outboard in 1974. Honda has a line of small engines from 2 to 20 hp. Their medium range runs from 25 hp. to 90 hp. and features electronic fuel injection. Honda’s big engines are 4 and 6 cylinder models with power ratings from 115 to 225 hp.
  3. Mercury Marine: Mercury offers both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. The Verado line is V-4 and V-6 4-stroke outboards with power from 150 hp. to 300 hp. The FourStrokes line is small and midrange motors from 2.5 hp. up to 115 hp. Optimax is Mercury’s line of two-stroke engines producing power from 75 up to 250 hp.
  4. Suzuki Marine: Suzuki offers a complete line of 4-stroke outboard engines, starting with a 2.5 hp. portable up to a 4 liter displacement V-6 putting out 300 hp. Suzuki seems to be a relative newcomer to the U.S. outboard market, selling boat motors here since 1977,  but they are putting some interesting technology into their engines.
  5. Yamaha Outboards: Yamaha has an extensive (close to mind boggling) lineup of outboard motors offering portables, midrange and high output in both 2-stroke and 4-stroke varieties. At the top of the Yamaha heap is a 5.3L, V-8 outboard that can be had in either 300 hp. or 350 hp.

Today’s outboard engine manufacturers offer a tremendous range of products to fill the needs of more boating uses than I can count. One area I did not cover much here is there offerings of jet propulsion systems. If you needs range from 2 hp. to 350 hp., 2-stroke high power/low weight or clean burning 4-stroke, outboard engines offer a lot of alternatives.
