Grand Banks 42
Grand Banks 42
According to the widely respected PowerBoat Guide, the classic Grand Banks 42 is one of the most successful trawlers ever produced. There are several Grand Banks 42 foot yachts for sale in Texas, so let’s take a moment to learn about this timeless ship.

First produced by American Marine in 1965, the Grand Banks 42 featured diesel engines capable of running at a top speed of 20 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 12 to 13 knots.

42 grand banks yachtsIn its forty years of continuous production until 2005, the company name may have changed but that’s basically all that changed with the exceptions of a wood to fiberglass hull in 1973, and a new stretched hull that started production in 1991.  The Grand Banks 42 yacht had a manufacturing run of over 1,560 hulls in total.

Featuring its handcrafted trademark teak joinery and parquet flooring, this classic was configured with two staterooms at opposite ends of the ship, with a galley and saloon mid ship.  With its inherent beauty, it’s no wonder that Grand Banks owners are typically lifelong sailors with a passion for the sea and the desire to own a vessel that will be used for generations to come.
