The beam is 29.5 ft. and it is constructed of fiberglass composite. Propulsion is from a pair of 1,800 hp MTU/Detroit Diesel motors. Megayacht buyers have a strong desire to customize their purchases, and Tiger Woods’ yacht is no exception. For recreation the yacht carries three SeaDoos, two ocean kayaks and two vespa scooters. On deck is a large bar, stainless steel BBQ and an 8 person jacuzzi. A $150,000 station was added to fill scuba tanks with a blend of helium, nitrogen and oxygen. The helium blend allow deeper diving than the usual two-gas blend. An inflatable decompression chamber is also on board. This equipment is necessary for diving deeper than the 120 ft. recreational limit.
The interior of Tiger Woods’ Yacht includes cherry woodwork and a color scheme of cream, light browns and white. The staterooms are wallpapered in white silk. The VIP stateroom is aft with two queen size cabin amidships and a twin cabin. The second twin cabin has been converted to a workout room with a treadmill, exercise bike and free weights. The sweeping staircase has transparent stairs and a cherry handrail. The main living area is an open floor plan with only a single divider between the saloon and the dining room. A 50″ plasma television is embedded in the divider and swivels so in can be watched from any direction including the dining area. Along with the staircase is an elevator that will hold three people. The crew of eight bunk in the most forward section.
The Christensen Trideck yachts take almost three years to build, but Tiger made the purchase when the construction was already 2/3 complete. This allowed all of the custom touches to be added, and shortened his wait time to less than a year.
Tiger purchased the yacht as a way to get away from the public and as a sanctuary from the media. Once away from port it is pretty tough for anyone to bother the famous golfer and his family. The yacht’s name “Privacy” pretty much says it all concerning Tiger Woods’ purchase of this super luxury yacht.
After receiving his yacht, Tiger discovered the company had used his purchase to promote their business and he sued Christensen for violating the privacy agreement that was signed when the boat was ordered. Wood’s $50 million lawsuit claimed the shipyard used his name and photos for promotion without authorization. The court ruled in Woods’ favor and he received $1.6 million.
